I'll Have a Blue, Blue Christmas is a follow-on story to the novel Deep Blue. In Deep Blue, Brandt - our hero - is gifted, or cursed, depending on your perspective, with the Blues. These aren't your average, every day blues. Brandt becomes a conduit for the pain and suffering of the world, all that has gone before, all that is happening now. He has to play. The pain builds up inside, and the music is his release. He helps maintain the balance.
